Do I need to get permission?
The requirements for shed installation and whether permission is needed vary across Australian states and territories. Here’s a general overview:
New South Wales (NSW):
Size and height: Sheds under 20m² and no taller than 3m generally don’t require permission.
Placement: Must maintain a minimum distance of 900mm from property boundaries.
Victoria (VIC):
Size and height: Sheds under 10m² and no taller than 3m may not need approval.
Placement: Must be at least 1m from the house and 9m from the road boundary.
Queensland (QLD):
Size and height: Sheds under 10m² and no taller than 2.4m generally don’t need permission.
Placement: Must maintain a minimum of 1.5m from property boundaries.
Western Australia (WA):
Size and height: Sheds under 10m² and no taller than 2.4m generally don’t require approval.
Placement: Must be at least 1m from property boundaries.
South Australia (SA):
Size and height: Sheds under 15m² and no taller than 2.5m generally don’t need permission.
Placement: Must maintain at least 900mm from property boundaries.
Tasmania (TAS):
Size and height: Sheds under 9m² and no taller than 2.4m generally don’t require permission.
Placement: Must maintain a minimum of 1.5m from property boundaries.
Northern Territory (NT):
Size and height: Sheds under 12m² and no taller than 2.1m may not need approval.
Placement: Must maintain at least 1m from property boundaries.
Australian Capital Territory (ACT):
Size and height: Sheds under 10m² and no taller than 2.4m generally don’t require approval.
Placement: Must maintain a minimum of 1.5m from property boundaries.
How long does it take to design a custom shed?
You don't have to design everything from A to Z. If you want, you can customize everything to your liking, but we focus on understanding the average demand for what many consumers want. Consumers with similar lifestyles tend to share similar tastes, and that's how you'll first encounter the shed design on the screen.
Once you change the shed to your desired size and explore various options, adding the features you want, the design process will be simple. This task may take 5 minutes, 30 minutes, or even 3 hours, but it depends entirely on how much you want to customize it and how familiar you are with using a computer.
Can I install it myself?
Building a DIY Shed by yourself would be a unique challenge. While we recommend having at least 2 to 3 people, it's not impossible to install the Shed alone. However, it's crucial to always prioritize safety during the work, and make sure the work environment is properly prepared.
It will be easier if you prepare the materials in advance and ensure you have adequate support structures in place. If you have to work alone, paying extra attention to these factors will be key to a successful project.
Is delivery available in my area?
We have a variety of suppliers ready in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, and Northern Territory. Certain regions may require additional shipping costs. While we can deliver to most populated areas, if you're unsure about delivery availability to your location, feel free to email us and ask directly.
